Hazte para acá! Grab your cafecito, because this chisme está gacho como the unemployment line.
Let’s talk about Brian Ortega—the now former bassist of Grupo Frontera. Yes, former.
“I recently learned I would no longer be part of Grupo Frontera,” Ortega wrote on Instagram. “This decision was not made by me, and I had no voice in how it was handled.”
No warning? No meeting? No last gig with confetti and a final bow? Ni madres.
“Even so,” he added, “I hold nothing but gratitude for the years, the music, and all the moments I shared with my former bandmates.”
That’s cute. Mature. Noble. But you and I both know—that’s code for “Pinches culeros, malagradecidos!”
Pero ni modo. Así es este jale. One day you have a paid lunch hour and 401(k), and the next, it’s your last day at work.
Brian isn't crying himself to sleep. This man is moving on. “I’m excited for what’s next and already working on plans with amazing people.”
Now, let’s get this straight—Brian wasn’t the original bassist for Grupo Frontera. He replaced Carlos Zamora, who left before the band went viral with their cover of Morat’s “No Se Va”—the same song that blew up thanks to Elmer’s footwork, known as “el pasito satevo,” in a now-iconic video.
Everyone wants to know—what the hell happened?
Let’s speculate, shall we? Because when a band member gets tossed without a peep, there’s usually only a few possible explanations:
Money.
Ego.
Replacement.
And sometimes? All three.
Grupo Frontera has a pattern. Before Adelaido "Payo" Solís III, Juan Javier Cantú was the lead singer and accordionist. So, if the lead singer could be replaced, the bassist was easy peasy.
And while the band hasn’t said a word, their silence says a lot. You don’t just lose a key player mid-tour and act like everything’s normal.
Nadie es indispensable. We are all replaceable—we all know that.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Maybe there’s more to the story. Maybe Brian’s not telling us everything. Maybe. But let’s be honest: the way he carried himself? Classy. The way the band’s acting? Suspicious AF.
Fans online are speculating that Carlos Zamora—the original bassist—is making a comeback. Some claim Brian had been missing shows and skipping events, while others are convinced this was planned all along. So, yeah… there are theories.
So here we are. Brian Ortega—out. Grupo Frontera—mute. Fans—divided. And us? Ni aquí, ni allá. We’re Switzerland.
Well, now you know what I know.
